This work originated in a journal kept by the author while in camp for the private information of his own family and was subsequently expanded into chapters which appeared under the title of Poorbeh Mutiny. The author himself was familiar with all the stations from Delhi to Peshawar and had a leading role in the stirring events of the time. He is ready to admit that he felt Punjabi and has written as one. In his search for the truth, he has spared no one, least of all himself.
